Breeder's Edge and Shelter's Choice Feline Milk Replacers Recalled

Revival Animal Health is recalling specified packages of Breeder's Edge and Shelter's Choice feline milk replacers after testing found inconsistent and low levels of several nutrients. The company announcement was posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on August 26.

This is not a recall of every package ever sold under either name. Owners and foster caregivers should match the brand, product, UPC, package size and best by date against the official list. If any identifier differs, the package is not one of the combinations listed in this announcement.

Which feline milk replacers are recalled?

The FDA table appears to omit a comma between two dates in the 12 ounce Breeder's Edge row. The Oregon Veterinary Medical Association reproduces the same sequence. Buddylio displays 6/25/2027 and 8/06/2027 as separate dates because that is how the surrounding list is structured, but owners should use the live FDA notice for the controlling record.

Why the recall was issued

The company says third party testing first suggested a possible nutrient deficiency in one lot. Revival then tested multiple lots, and an independent animal nutritionist analyzed the results on August 12. The findings led to the voluntary recall.

The listed concerns were low potassium, copper, folic acid, choline and or pyridoxine, also known as vitamin B6. Revival said it ended its relationship with the contracted manufacturer connected with the inconsistencies.

No illnesses were confirmed in the announcement

When the notice was published, Revival reported no confirmed illnesses caused by the products. It was investigating nine complaints involving possible gastrointestinal and bone development issues. A complaint under investigation is not the same as a confirmed product related illness.
