It starts with their name.

A keepsake should feel like it belongs

You still catch yourself looking at their spot by the door. Most dog people do. A memorial piece has to feel personal before it feels pretty. That's why each planned keepsake starts with the name, the years, and a preview you can try now.

Their name still belongs somewhere you can see it.

Type the name before you choose

Most people choose the name and the years. Some add the line they always said at the end of the day. This preview is only a planning tool. Nothing is available to order yet.

Before you decide on a keepsake

There is no correct moment for this. Some people want a name in their hands within the first week, because the house is too quiet and holding something helps. Others leave it a year and then know exactly what they want. Both are normal, and nothing here expires.

When you are ready, a few small decisions make the result feel right rather than generic. Settle on the name as you actually said it out loud, not the long version from the paperwork. Decide whether years belong on it at all, since some people find the dates comforting and others would rather not read them every day. Think about where the piece will live, because a shelf by the door asks for something different than a bedside table. And if more than one person in the house is grieving, it is worth asking them before you choose, rather than after.

Take the time you need. A keepsake you were sure about is the one that keeps meaning something years later.

If another dog is grieving too

Dogs often change after a death in the household. Appetite, sleep and how much they seek out people are the things owners report most, and those changes look a lot like illness from the outside.
