Troy McDermott and Crystal Bianco were arrested September 17 after an investigation at a Marlborough, Connecticut, property where authorities documented dead dogs and unsafe living conditions, WFSB reported, citing state police and court records.
McDermott faces 11 animal cruelty counts and one count of tampering with physical evidence. Bianco faces one animal cruelty count. The charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent.
Seven living dogs, two defendants
The affidavit links McDermott’s cruelty counts to six living dogs and five dead dogs, according to WFSB. Authorities also seized a living dog associated with Bianco, bringing the reported number of surviving dogs removed to seven.
The investigation followed an August 31 inspection on Saner Road. A search warrant was approved September 1 and executed September 2. The arrests came more than two weeks after that search, rather than during a new rescue Monday.
