Rodney and Rychelle Morrow face 42 misdemeanor charges after a pack of dogs attacked residents in Charlotte’s Claiborne Woods neighborhood on August 26, WSOC reported. The station says the couple was charged September 16 with offenses including animal cruelty, abandonment and vaccination violations.
Seven dogs escaped from a moving U Haul after the truck hit a bump and its rear gate opened, according to WSOC. WCCB also reported the arrests, citing allegations that included a dangerous dog attack.
Recovery continues weeks after the attack
A survivor told WSOC she suffered more than 100 bites, underwent two surgeries and spent 10 days in the hospital. In the station’s September 17 report, she said she was still learning to walk again.
The published accounts differ on how many people were harmed: WSOC reports four injured; WCCB describes three mauled. Neither account explains the discrepancy.
WSOC’s total of 42 charges is reported against the couple without an individual breakdown. The Morrows are accused, not convicted.
