Toronto Police Locate Dogs in Tanychia Black Attack Case

Toronto police say the two dogs sought after an alleged attack near Avenue Road and Roxborough Street were located and seized on September 16. The department announced that development September 18.

The search for the dogs has ended

The seizure replaces the outstanding search described in the September 13 arrest announcement. Police have not announced a final disposition for the dogs in the update reviewed. Investigators continue to ask for information about the case.

Police allege the dogs escaped an enclosed off leash area on September 10 and attacked a person walking a leashed dog. The person sustained injuries described as non life threatening; their dog suffered life threatening injuries.

Charges announced September 13

Black faces criminal negligence causing bodily harm, obstructing a peace officer and four counts under Ontario’s Dog Owners’ Liability Act. Those include two counts of failing to prevent a bite or attack and two involving a dog biting a person or domestic animal. The allegations have not been proven in court.
