How to check your own bag or can
Find the lot number and best by date. On bags they are usually stamped near the bottom seam or on the back; on cans they are printed on the lid or the bottom. The UPC is the barcode number. Compare all three with the row below, because most recalls cover one lot, not every bag of that recipe on the shelf.

If your product matches, stop feeding it. Don't pour it back in the bin with the rest. Put it in a sealed bag, wash the bowl and scoop with hot soapy water, wash your hands, and keep the packaging or a photo of it for the refund. Every notice below has the company's phone number or email for that.

Only recalls and advisories that appear on the FDA's recall or advisory pages are in this table. Blog lists sometimes add brands based on rumors or complaints. If a brand isn't here, we couldn't verify a notice for it.
Two of the recalls above have full Buddylio reports with the company statements and what changed since: the Northwest Naturals raw food recall and the Fromm canned food recall. A separate UK recall by Years is covered in this report. It's not on the FDA list because the food is sold outside the United States.
What to watch for if your dog already ate recalled food
The three problems behind this year's recalls show up differently. Salmonella and Listeria are bacteria. Metal or plastic pieces are a physical hazard. Low thiamine is a nutrient problem that builds over weeks.
- Salmonella or Listeria: lethargy, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), fever, vomiting, less appetite, a tender belly. Some dogs carry the bacteria without looking sick and can pass it to people through saliva and stool, so wash hands after cleanup.
- Metal or plastic pieces: choking, vomiting, refusing food, a painful belly, straining to pass stool.
- Low thiamine: less appetite, vomiting, drooling, weight loss, and in later stages a bent neck, wobbly walking, circling or seizures.
Call your veterinarian if any of these appear, and tell them which product and lot the dog ate. If the main sign is vomiting, this guide on vomiting versus regurgitation helps you describe it. For loose stool, dog diarrhea and when to call the vet covers what to note first.
Why raw and freeze dried foods appear so often
Seven of the 10 rows are raw or freeze dried products, and the reason is usually the same: the food isn't cooked, so bacteria that would be killed in a kibble oven survive. That doesn't make every raw food unsafe, but it does mean the lot number matters more, and that the FDA tests these products more often. If you feed raw, keep the packaging until the bag is finished.
How this page is kept current
Buddylio's news desk publishes a report on each new dog food recall and adds a row here the same day. Rows come only from the FDA notice or the manufacturer's official statement, never from a retailer post or a social media screenshot. The date at the top of this page is the last time a row was added or changed.
This page is a reference, not medical advice. If your dog is sick, the phone call to your clinic comes before the lot number check.
