Cane Corso Apollo Receives Care After Long Island Neglect Case

Apollo, a 4 year old Cane Corso, is receiving treatment at a local animal shelter after Suffolk County SPCA investigators said they found him severely underweight in a Wheatley Heights basement, Patch reported September 16.

Isaiah Thomas, 20, received a September 15 appearance ticket on misdemeanor charges involving veterinary care and food and water, according to the SPCA account. The charges do not establish guilt.

The SPCA described severe muscle loss, wounds, fleas and widespread skin disease. It said Apollo had been kept behind a basement metal door held shut by three vehicle tires. The report did not identify the shelter treating him or establish that he is available for adoption.
