Broward County Animal Care took two dogs into custody on September 19 after an attack injured a baby and the child’s mother in Dania Beach, Local 10 reported. Officials told the station the baby remained in intensive care.
The mother was injured while protecting her child. Animal Care identified the dogs as Belgian Malinois belonging to her fiancé, according to Local 10.
Dogs taken to the shelter the following day
Deputies responded Friday evening, September 18, near Griffin Road and Southwest 28th Avenue. Animal Care said its officers returned Saturday after investigating at the hospital and confiscated both dogs.
The animals are at the shelter while officials review their histories. The published account does not announce a final decision about either dog. Their removal from the home is a custody update, not a completed finding about what led to the attack.
