Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Buddylio application ("Buddylio" or the "App") handles information. We have built Buddylio with privacy as a core principle: your dog's information stays on your device.
1. Data Controller
The data controller responsible for the App is Reelygood S.R.L., a company registered in Romania. For any privacy-related question or request, contact us at contact@buddylio.com.
2. Summary
The information you enter into Buddylio, including your dog's name, daily check-ins, photos, notes, medications, weight, vet visits, and any other entries, is stored locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to this information. We do not maintain user accounts. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties.
For stability and usage understanding, the App uses Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics with a strict allow list. Both are on by default and can be turned off any time in Settings → Privacy. No dog names, notes, photos, medication names, exact scores, exact weights, vet contact details, or other personal content are ever sent. Details below in section 5.
3. Information Stored on Your Device
The following types of information may be entered by you and stored locally within the App on your device:
- Your dog's name, age, breed, and similar profile details
- Daily wellness check-ins (appetite, mobility, comfort, energy, mood, sleep)
- Weight entries
- Medication entries and reminders
- Photos you choose to add
- Walks, vet visits, notes, and any other content you enter
This information remains on your device. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party by the App.
4. Device Backups
If you have enabled backups on your device through Apple iCloud or Google services, your App data may be included in those backups. On iOS, Buddylio can create a private iCloud recovery backup. On Android, Buddylio data can be included in Android Auto Backup tied to your Google account. These backups are managed by Apple or Google according to their respective privacy practices and are not accessible to us. You may review or disable these backups in your device settings.
5. Anonymous Diagnostics and Analytics
The App uses two Google Firebase products for stability and usage understanding:
- Firebase Crashlytics receives anonymous crash reports if the App crashes. Each report includes a randomly generated install identifier, the App version, the build number, the platform, and the system stack trace. No dog names, notes, photos, medication names, weights, scores, vet contact details, or other content you entered into the App are sent.
- Firebase Analytics receives a small set of allow-listed anonymous events (for example: app opened, dashboard viewed, check-in saved, quick log saved, paywall viewed, or Veterinary Summary generated) together with bucketed parameters such as platform, App version, install identifier, and a coarse "days since install" bucket. The contract is published in our source repository as
spec/telemetry-contract.yaml. A sanitizer drops any parameter that is not on the allow list, drops any string longer than 50 characters, and drops any blocked PII parameter (dog names, breed, notes, medication names, dosage, weights, exact scores, raw axis values, location, IP, advertising identifiers, photos, vet contact details, transaction IDs, receipts, or purchase tokens).
Both products are on by default and can be turned off at any time inside the App under Settings → Privacy. Turning them off stops new anonymous events from being sent for the rest of the device's use of the App.
The App does not use Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Messaging, or Remote Config. The App does not collect personal identifiers, contact details, location data, browsing history, advertising identifiers, or behavioral profiling. The App does not contain advertising. The App does not share data with data brokers.
5a. Bot Protection (Firebase App Check)
The App uses Firebase App Check to confirm requests originate from a legitimate copy of the App, not from a bot. On iOS this uses Apple's App Attest; on Android it uses Google Play Integrity. App Check generates device-level tokens that do not contain personal information and are not linked to your in-App data.
5b. Website Newsletter
If you subscribe to the newsletter on buddylio.com, we send your email address to MailerLite so we can send you Buddylio tips and updates, including when Buddylio comes to Android. MailerLite acts as our email processor for the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time.
The Website may use Firebase Analytics to understand anonymous page views and newsletter form outcomes. We do not send email addresses, dog details, notes, exact locations, payment data, or free-form text to Firebase Analytics from the Website. We also do not send URL query strings. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, the Website does not initialize Firebase Analytics.
The newsletter form also uses Vercel-hosted server-side protections, backed by managed Redis or key-value rate limiting, to reduce spam and automated abuse. Those protections may process technical request data such as IP address, browser user agent, one-time form token, and timing metadata. We use that data only to protect the newsletter form and do not sell or share it with data brokers.
6. Communications
If you choose to contact us by email at contact@buddylio.com, we will receive the information you include in your message, such as your email address and the content of your inquiry. We use this information solely to respond to your request and retain it only as long as reasonably necessary for that purpose.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to address the matter.
8. Your Rights
Because we do not hold your App data on our servers, most data subject requests, such as access, correction, or deletion, are fulfilled directly within the App on your device. You may delete all App data at any time by using the in-app "Delete Data" function, or by uninstalling the App.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar laws, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to correct inaccurate personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell or share personal information.
To exercise any right relating to information we hold (such as email correspondence), contact contact@buddylio.com.
9. Subscriptions
Buddylio Pro is sold through Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on your platform. Apple and Google handle the payment and subscription. We do not receive your card details or billing address. The App only stores the local entitlement state needed to unlock Pro features.
10. Security
Because your App data is stored locally on your device, the security of that data depends on the security of your device. We recommend keeping your operating system up to date, enabling a passcode or biometric lock, and enabling encrypted backups.
11. International Users
The App is available globally. By using the App, you understand that your information is processed locally on your device, regardless of your location. Where we receive correspondence from you (for example, by email), that correspondence may be processed in Romania or other countries where our service providers operate, in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the Policy was last revised. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by other appropriate means.
13. Contact
For any question, concern, or request regarding this Privacy Policy, contact contact@buddylio.com.
