A dog named Joleen remains hospitalized after Animal Rescue Corps removed 24 surviving animals from a Chester County, Tennessee, property. In an October 1 release, ARC said she needed a blood transfusion after being taken directly from the rescue scene to emergency care.
The rescue happened September 26
Operation FreeFall began September 26 at law enforcement’s request. ARC reports rescuing 12 dogs, 10 cats and kittens, one rabbit and one goat. The organization says animals were found emaciated, chained or in dirty enclosures; remains of other animals were also discovered.
What the latest update says
ARC says Joleen is receiving treatment for heartworm disease, anemia, infections and other complications. It expects her to remain hospitalized for several more days. The release does not announce a discharge date or guarantee recovery.
The other animals are receiving examinations and individualized care. ARC says some will need substantial treatment and rehabilitation before placement with partner shelters and rescues.
How eventual adoption works
ARC’s adoption guidance explains that the organization does not place animals directly with individual adopters. Animals move to approved shelter and rescue partners once care and any custody requirements allow. Interested adopters should wait for an identified placement partner rather than assume that this rescue announcement opens applications.
